Mission
Equipping the future generation of Christian leaders.
Vision

Christ Lutheran School exists to provide a superior, academic program for families who are committed to thoroughly preparing their children for the challenges of an ever-changing world. It is believed that this is best accomplished through three strategically-implemented processes:

• Providing a comprehensive, national standards-based, liberal arts foundation, rooted in classical education curricula, and appropriately integrated with technology;

• Assisting each student in the discovery of their unique gift-set

• Permeating each student’s experience with a meaningful and applicable connection to Jesus Christ for power, perseverance, peace, and purpose.

Through thorough preparation, a Christ Lutheran graduate can expect a smooth, successful, and spiritually fulfilling transition to high school, college, and beyond.

History

From the inception of Christ Lutheran Church, Overland Park in 1991, opening a quality grade school was the prayerful and formidable goal. That dream became a reality when Christ Lutheran relocated to its present location at 11720 Nieman Road and opened the first kindergarten and first grade classes in August, 2001. Curriculum for Christ Lutheran School was carefully researched, and based on the church’s core value of excellence in all things, a Classical Education model was easily identified and embraced.

CLS has not wavered from their commitment to Classical Education and believes they will be among the many Classical Education schools setting a trend of educational superiority and rebirth in this state and beyond. The school will add one grade per year until eighth grade, and by the grace of God, begin the process of double grading in the 2012-2013 school year. The present goal is being a double graded school, kindergarten through eighth grade, comprised of 360 students by the 2020-2021 school year.

In addition, we have over 8,000 students in 10 universities and two seminaries.

(1) The current Strategic Plan/Plan of Improvement has been completed.
(2) An appropriate accreditation agency has been identified that will recognize classical education programming and challenge the CLS standards of excellence.
Expanded Vision

Equipping the future generation of Christian leaders is the mission, purpose, and passion of Christ Lutheran School. It is our mission because it clearly defines our highest priority in the lives of our students. It is our purpose because it is the very essence of our existence. It is our passion because we recognize the unquenched need for Christian, value-based leadership. Our mission is accomplished through: unparalleled academic excellence; caring, individual attention; and reverent, intentional focus on God.

Classical Education is the foundation for the superior, academics offered to families committed to thoroughly preparing their children for the challenges of an ever-changing world. Christ Lutheran School is unrelenting in setting a new educational standard of excellence: Graduates who will be prepared to read anything, write anything, and discuss anything. A graduate will be equipped with Latin, Logic, Apologetics, comprehensive writing skills, the ability to read and analyze literature, Algebra, and more. Through thorough preparation, a Christ Lutheran graduate can expect a smooth, successful, and spiritually fulfilling transition to high school, college, and beyond.

Christ Lutheran School recognizes uniqueness in every child. In addition to the challenging academic program, students will have a thorough understanding of art, music, athletics, diverse competition, and activities to provide the experiences necessary to find their unique gift-set. These experiences are purposefully orchestrated to guide each child in the pursuit of their natural strengths. An important accomplishment of our program, and rewarding endeavor for our students, is self-discovery.

The culmination of academic pursuit and self-discovery is rooted in a spiritual “worldview” that challenges each student to recognize their uniqueness as a gift from God, and consequently use their abilities to serve. Classical Education approaches each person with the realization that God is the center of everything. He desires a personal, love relationship which in turn blesses us with power, perseverance, peace, and purpose. It is through an understanding and relationship with the Creator that we, His creation, can fulfill our distinct, created purpose.

At Christ Lutheran School we develop, nurture, and equip leaders - Individuals who will have the fortitude and skill-set to make a difference, take a stand, and lead with uncompromising conviction. Our world is filled with an overabundance of mechanical followers and self-serving leaders. Christ Lutheran School is relentlessly vested in developing men and women of character who will lead with integrity and strength to make an invaluable contribution to our community, country, and world!
